OUR STORY

Our story started on a cold winter evening in Zurich in late 2022.I

It was an odd feeling to meet a total stranger who spoke and felt like a longtime friend.

We bonded over our multicultural backgrounds, our hyper-traveling families and childhoods, far-flung extended families, and our experiences living and working in different countries.

There were plenty of common threads, but also an interesting mirroring of experiences: Maja’s family was a rare visibly multicultural family in recently reunified East Germany, while Vikram grew up in the large and ever-growing Indian-American community of the South Bay Area near San Francisco.

For two people with very little in common on paper, we had an awful lot in common.

We both had interest and experiences in real estate and especially the aesthetics of buildings, spaces, and the lived experiences they create.

Whether wandering through a new city, discussing architecture, admiring a restored home, or debating urban development, we both tend to notice the spaces around us and love to debate and refine what we feel could be made better.

An early defining moment came over an afternoon coffee with friends on a train waiting to depart from Zurich’s main station.

Chilly weather, a technical failure, and an unexpectedly long conversation turned into a spontaneous decision to simply stay on board as the train pulled away for Ticino - a hotel was booked en route.

If it was a glimpse of the life ahead, it seemed like a pretty good one.

Three years later, we’ve woven our individually international lives into something beautiful, unique, and perpetually in motion.

Vikram now joins Maja on her annual trips to visit family in Brazil, Germany, and Japan, where he gets spoiled exploring the untouristed neighborhoods of her childhood.

Maja’s first visit to California in 2023 started a tradition of dinner on our first night at her favorite Peruvian restaurant by the bay, making time for Carmel-by-the-Sea, and inevitably being surprised by San Francisco’s chilly evening breezes.

When we visited India in 2024, the warmth of the people, the energy of the city, and the organized bustle reminded Maja of Brazil.

She did have to admit, however, that Indian traffic was in a league of its own.

Over the years, we collected countless flights, adventures, and memories before officially tying the knot in Copenhagen in June 2025.

A little over a year later came our greatest adventure: our daughter, Iara.

It’s hard to believe how much has happened in just three years, but it makes us even more excited for everything still to come.

Today, Zurich is still home, but our lives remain spread across continents through family and friends.

We feel incredibly fortunate to celebrate with so many people who have been part of our journey, no matter where in the world they may be.
